We can't have that now, can we? How can you be a happy bitch without your beauty sleep? Let's get our snooze on.

First, let's address the problem. Why is it so difficult for this woman to sleep well? For that matter, why do millions of people have difficulty sleeping? Helping people catch more Z's is a multi-million dollar industry. Perhaps even billions. Between the latest and greatest pillow-top mattress adorned with 350 thread count sheets to over-the-counter and prescription sleep aids, a whole lot of people are making piles of money on our inability to sleep.

Add a tune to that line and we just might have a new national anthem.

We do live in some pretty interesting economic times. That's for damn sure. However (you know me well enough by now there had to be a "however"), regardless of the state of the economy, there are always opportunities waiting to be discovered and some people making more money than ever.

There is a cause and effect to everything, so even when the financial winds seem to be blowing in the wrong direction, new needs, wants and demands are emerging. Trouble is, we're too continue »

That's quite a question to ponder, don't you think?  So let's ponder.

I happen to have a good amount of background on this woman's situation. Thirteen years ago, she walked up behind her husband who was on the phone and waited while he finished his call. Unfortunately for him, he didn't realize she was there. What she was about to hear would change her life forever. continue »

I realize this title isn't the most uplifting of posts I've had. It was not my intention this week to write about this. However when I logged in the other day and realized that someone, a wife, mother, daughter, teenager, father, I have no idea who, typed these exact words into his or her browser and landed on my blog, posting about it became my most immediate priority.

Somewhere out there is a precious human life contemplating whether or not he or she has a reason to continue living. I have no way to reach this person directly, other than to post this and hope he or she comes back and reads this. So to my unknown visitor, this is for you. Even if it wasn't you, please read this.

Allow me to get right to the point. Bull shit.

I don't think there is another combination of five words I like less than "I don't have a choice." OK, maybe "I like your camel toe." But even that can be borderline acceptable if it's spoken with a smile and direct eye contact. That could be downright impressive if you ask me.

So why does this phrase make me want to yack like over-cooked lima beans gone cold? We're given 26 letters to play with, and we get to arrange them in any order we choose to create whatever words we want. The order we decide to put them in not only represents what's going on inside of our head, but actually determines what happens around us. Choose your words carefully, for they are the universe's magnets.

I dislike that phrase so much because  continue »
